Today, I’ll let my heroine, Jenny, take over the pen. She’s been slumbering in my mind ever since Undercover was published, and I think she wants to come out for some air.
Jenny, it’s good to see you here today. Reviewers say you can be a bit air-headed, but have a backbone of steel. What do you think made you such a strong woman?
Air-headed? How can I be air-headed when I’m stuck in my writer’s head? There’s no air in there, more like a vacuum… *fluffs hair* What was the question again? Oh yes, strong woman. I’d say breaking free from my first marriage. That taught me I really could stand on my own two feet and do things for myself. My friends and my job too. There’s nothing like solving a really tricky problem that seems impossible. The key is to believe in oneself. Even if you don’t believe in yourself at that very moment, pretend you do. If you can at least pretend to be on top of things, both your mind and other people will believe you.
Can you tell us something about your story?
Absolutely. I sat at work one day, pretty bored at that, and this amazing man appeared by my desk. I bet you know the type: tall, handsome, foreign… I had to figure out a way to talk to him, of course, so I made sure the guys invited me for lunch. He was interesting and charming, and as the day went by, I sort of fell for him. He seemed to like me too. Then, I discovered that he was a Russian spy. What a mess! It was really scary at times, but there’s nothing more important than family, and once you find the person you belong with you have to stick together, you know.
Do you have a favorite quote?
Actually, I do. Dalai Lama once said, “Be kind whenever possible. It’s always possible.” I like that one.
It’s Christmas time. How do you feel about the holiday season?
I love it. Love, love, love it. I think Christmas decorations are magical. I mean, imagine Christmas morning. The lights never shine brighter, tinsel never glitters as much, and the colors are never as full and bright as on Christmas morning.
Anything else you want to share?
Only one thing. Se-quel. Can someone please tell my writer to stop procrastinating and playing with imaginary space ships? She made such a big mess of my life she really needs to straighten it all up, she’s just too easily distracted to get anything done. From what I hear, my daughter wants a book too. She claims she’ll be kidnapped and locked in a box on some boat by people wanting to sell her as a slave. I think she’s just talking, but it might happen. If it does, I hope Alex and I taught her to take care of herself. You can’t imagine the worries of being a fictitious mom!

Author Spotlight - Character Interview with Lila Tumson from Catch of the Day
Bentonville Daily Chronicle Sports Editor Jeffrey Waller interviews Lila Tumson, supporting cast from Catch of the Day
Waller: "Excuse me, are you Lila Tumson?"
Lila: "Why yes, I sure am. And who might you be?"
Waller: "I'm Jeffrey Waller of the Bentonville Daily Chronicle, and I'm doing a series this week on the Loon Lake Tournament."
Lila: "Oh wonderful!"
Waller: "I'm pleased to meet you, ma'am. I understand you handle the registration for the tournament."
Lila: "That's right. The registration and all sorts of things for my daddy, Mayor Billy Tumson. Daddy runs this tournament."
Waller: "I see. Anything exciting happen at the registration this year, Miss Tumson?"
Lila: "Oh please, call me Lila."
Waller: Did she just bat her eyelashes at me? "All right, Lila. Anything exciting you care to share?"
Lila: "Why all the anglers are excitin'. I get to meet every cutie patootie in the tournament right over there at my registration desk."
Waller: "Every…cutie patootie?"
Lila: "Well, not every single one. I just met you this every instant."
Waller: "Um…Miss Tumson…your finger's caught on my shirt pocket."
Lila: "Oh, so it is."
Waller: "I guess what I really wanted to ask about was your very first female angler, Cody Ryan."
Lila: "What do you want to know about her for?"
Waller: "Well, because she's special -- being the first female angler and all."
Lila: "There's nothing special about her."
Waller: "All the Loon women I've interviewed think Cody Ryan is special."
Lila: "Yeah, but the Loon men sure don't. They want a gal to be feminine and helpless like li'l ole me."
Waller: "Somehow I don't see you as helpless, Lila."
Lila: "You don't?"
Waller: "Um…that's my belt loop you've got your finger hooked in…"

Author Spotlight - Character Interview with Kara from "Aboard the Wishing Star"
Debra - "Kara, now that you're all packed for your cruise I'd like to ask you some questions. If you are so afraid of water, why are you going on a cruise?
Kara - "I won a cruise for two at work. There was a contest for the most productive employee and I still can't believe I won. I guess all those hours of overtime really paid off."
Debra - "Who are you taking with you?"
Kara - "I invited my best friend, Viv. We've been friends since we were young, but I haven't seen her since my husband died. So I'm looking forward to a week of girl time. My boss Daryl hinted that he wanted to be invited, but I'd already invited her and I'm looking forward to being away from work. And he was probably just joking. Everyone at work was saying 'pick me'."
Debra - "That sounds like fun, a girls week in the Caribbean. What else are you looking forward to?"
Kara - "Yes, it will be. Viv is always fun and I've missed her. She's more of a party girl than I am so we'll probably dance every night in the club, but I'm looking forward to lounging by the pool or on the beach with a good book."
Debra - "You've been working so much it sounds like you need the rest. When was the last time you took a vacation? You must be really dedicated to your job."
Kara - "I haven't had a day off since my husband took me to the Washington zoo to see the pandas. That was the day he was shot at the gas station. For a long time I wasn't able to talk about it without crying. I guess I started working extra hours to stay busy at first and keep my mind off of what happened and how much I missed him. Then it just became a habit. Daryl always has extra work projects for me. Sometimes it feels like I'll never get caught up."
Debra - "I hope you get the relaxation you need and have a fun time with Viv. Have you thought about what you will do if your water phobia takes over?"
Kara - "I took a timid non swimmers class at the gym, but haven't swum since. So if we're in the pool I'll stay in the shallow end unless there is flotation then I can go into the deep end. But the ocean, well, I don't know about that. Viv swears there will always be life vests and she says we'll be too busy drinking frosty rum drinks and checking out all the hot men to be swimming in the ocean. I'm still pretty nervous about it though. My travel agent said it's completely safe and I don't even have to wear my swimsuit or get wet if I don't want to."
Debra - "Is this a singles cruise? Your friend mentioned hot men. How do you feel about that?"
Kara - "No, it's not a singles cruise, but the travel agent said there's a high percentage of singles that go on this one since we'll be celebrating New Years on board. Viv is always checking out hot men. I don't think she'll ever get married. I'm not looking for that, or even dating, but she's always trying to talk me into going out and meeting men. That's just how Viv is and she's always been a party girl. Back in high school she was the life of the party and I was the shy one."
Debra - "It sounds like you're happy with your single life now and not looking for a relationship."
Kara - "Happy? I guess. Lately I've been thinking about finding a new job, doing something new. My life is okay. I have a busy job, a house and I'm healthy. I should be happy. Maybe I'm just tired of the job and need to do something else with my life. Nights can be hard. Sometimes I get lonely at night. I miss the companionship of being married. The little things, you know?"
Debra - "I do know. Little things, like sharing how the day went and things that maybe aren't so little. Like being held? I've heard it said wishes can come true aboard The Wishing Star."
Kara - "Yes. I miss that. But I don't want to talk about that any more. Wishes don't always come true and it can hurt too much when they don't."
Debra - "Well, Kara, I hope all your wishes do come true aboard The Wishing Star and I hope you have a lovely trip. Thank you for talking to me today."
Kara - "Thank you. I've got to go over my packing list now and make sure I don't forget anything."

Author Spotlight - Character Interview with Victoria:
Natalie Portman, inspiration
for "Victoria."
QUESTION: Victoria, How do you feel about having one of the most difficult years of your life shared with so many?
VICKI: Vicki, please. Has it really only been a year? It feels like so much longer. I guess that if someone else can benefit from my life it's okay.
QUESION: What was the most difficult thing this past year?
VICKI:(Vicki's eyes tear up.) Death is never easy to deal with, especially when you lose someone so close to you.
QUESTION: That was probably insensitive of me to ask. Let's change the subject. Do you have one piece of advice for other women who are re-entering the dating scene? Only one piece?
VICKI: Oh, if I had to only share one piece I guess it would be, 'be sure not to rely too heavily on first impressions.'
COMMENT: That's an odd piece of wisdom.
VICKI: No, not really. But if it is wisdom you are looking for, you should be asking someone other than me. It's really too bad you haven't benefitted from my friend, Janine's wisdom.
QUESTION: Maybe you could share a bit of Janine's wisdom with us.
VICKI: I'd be happy to. Even the darkest of days carries a promise of something good.
QUESTION:Since this is an Inspirational Romantic Suspense and you have inspired with sharing your wisdom, do you mind sharing the most romantic thing that has happened to you this year?
VICKI: Um, can I share the second most romantic thing? Of course. It happened just before Christmas. I remember because on one hand I was afraid but on the other, I just couldn't get enough. It was the first time he kissed me. Oh, I was so torn. I thought I was in love with another at the time. Christmas is such a romantic season.
QUESTION: Are you going to tell us who you kissed?
VICKI: No, I think I'll let you experience it with me as you read the book. (wink)

Author Spotlight - Character Interview with Rachel Hawksley
S&S: What brings you to Richmond, VA?
RH: I’ve come to find my brother, Ben. He’s a captain in the Union forces and he’s been missing since Gettysburg.
S&S: Isn’t it dangerous for a Yankee woman behind enemy lines?
RH: Yes, but when I didn’t find my brother’s name on the injured or death lists, I couldn’t shake the notion he's a prisoner of war. I’ve already lost one brother to this war and I'm not about to sit around doing nothing while my remaining sibling's in jeopardy.
S&S: So you snuck into the Confederate capital?
RH: Actually I rode in bold as brass in a horse-drawn carriage, but only because my southern cousin agreed to take me into her Richmond home. I guess our family ties are stronger than this war.
S&S: What have you found in Richmond?
RH: The grace of God brought me this far, and I pray He’ll lead me to Ben. But I believe God has a deeper purpose. There’s a slow-witted man here named Sawyer, who needs me to stick up for him. And little Letitia and Jedidiah are sweet as can be, but every time I try to befriend them, I end up getting all of us in trouble. I truly don’t understand how a person’s skin color convinces folks to pretend one individual is inferior to another.
S&S: How will you accomplish this deeper purpose?
RH: I haven’t got it completely thought out yet, but I do aim to teach Sawyer his letters and let those two children know Mr. Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation and they are free. It’s not going to be a cake walk, but I’ve got a Colt revolver hidden under my skirts and I’m not afraid to use it.

Author Spotlight - Character interviews with Paige and Josh from "More Than a Job"
"And you helped me fix up this old house."

Kristen, best friend and former co-worker, interviews Paige
Kristen: So Paige, how long have we known each other?
Paige: When didn't we know each other? We've both lived in our small Missouri town all our lives. I could probably say you are my oldest friend.
Kristen: Thanks a lot! So tell me about a time that our friendship made a difference to you.
Paige: That would have to be the day I was fired from Robinson, Inc. You came into my house -- without my permission, but since I gave you the key I guess I can't complain. You brought me ice cream and helped me through my first crying jag after I was fired.
Kristen: I remember we demolished an entire half gallon of Rocky Road ice cream. Did it help?
Paige: It helped some. Mostly I just needed time to get used to the idea and figure out what to do next, but your kindness definitely took the edge off so I could begin to do that.
Kristen: I saw that awesome written plan, with drawings and everything, on the wall in your office. How did you come up with that?
Paige: Well, you know how we do individual plans with the people we support in services. I followed that kind of thing. Meg helped me put it together.
Kristen: And Meg is?...
Paige: A life coach by trade, the mother of one of the guys served at Robinson, Inc., and a good friend.
Kristen: And what are your plans?
Paige: There are a bunch, including finding a home of my own - which I did when my Grandmother moved out and left me hers -- and getting pets, in the form of two kittens that wandered into my back yard and ... well, you'll have to read the book but let me tell you, I love it when my plan comes together. It's a great life.
*************
Kim, his HR director, interviews Joshua
Kim: Josh, in this harsh funding environment, how often have you had to fire or lay off staff due to the economy?
Josh: Not as often as you might think. I know for-profit owners like my family sometimes get a bum rap because people think for-profit is full of greed, bad.
Kim: And it isn't?
Josh: It doesn't have to be. Think about it - my family wanted to develop our own business, and our heart is in the field of providing good homes to people with developmental disabilities. We won't have homes that are too big. They have to be well-kept and the people living in them have full say about what is their home, including the choice of roommates, the color of paint on the walls, and the temperature setting on the thermostat. To have control and to be able to run it as a family we had to go for-profit. Otherwise a non-profit board could stage a coup and throw us out. It's our business, and we make enough and are happy with our work.
Kim: So how many have you laid off?
Josh: Well, with the acquisition here in Missouri we didn't plan to let anyone go until we'd been operating it for a few months. Unfortunately one of the managers took things into his own hands and fired a very valuable employee.
Kim: You mean Paige?
Josh: I do.
Kim: That had to be hard on your relationship.
Josh: It had the potential to be. But Paige and I had the same goals for our people, the same values, and the manager who fired her didn't. You and I figured out pretty early on that he was the real problem.
Kim: We did. Still, it was water under the bridge. Could you do anything after the fact to make it up to Paige.
Josh: I guess you'll have to read the book to learn the rest of that story.

I read More Than a Job and enjoyed it so much! I loved the characters, loved her occupation and the way you included the group homes and residents in the story. I'm a retired ER nurse, so I always love stories with health care issues. I've never read anything that had group homes in it, either. You must be so thrilled. I'm definitely reading book 2 when it comes out.

Author Spotlight - Susan Jaymes and "Jared" from Guilty Hearts talk

Susan: Today I have with me Jared Adams. He is here to tell us a little bit about himself. Hi Jared. How are you today?
Jared: Fine
Susan: You seem a little nervous. I promise this will be painless. You are a big part of Guilty Hearts and we'd like to get to know more about you. How old are you?
Jared: Twelve. Almost a teen ager and I can't wait.
Susan: What do you like to do in Pine Crest?
Jared: Swim, play baseball, ice fish, and play video games.
Susan: Do you like the snow?
Jared: Yep. I love tobogganing.
Susan: Do your parents take you? Or do you have brothers or sisters?
Jared: Nope, just me. I don't have a dad. Mom would go with me but I don't like her to come.
Susan: Why not?
Jared: I look like a baby.
Susan: Ah, I see. What happen to your father?
Jared: He died before I was born. My Grandma and Grandpa tell me I was his gift to my mother.
Susan: I'm so sorry to hear about your father. I bet you were the best to gift your mom could ever have.
Jared: She won't talk about Dad.
Susan: Does that make you mad?
Jared: Yeah. I want to know about him but she won't tell me. My Grandma and Grandpa do though.
Susan: That's good.
Jared: And I met this really cool guy named Matt Black. He knew my Dad really good. Mom doesn't like him much though.
Susan: Why not?
Jared: I don't know.
Susan: What do you like about Matt?
Jared: He's funny and nice.
Susan: He sounds like a nice man. I hope your mom and Matt work things out so you can have Matt as a friend. Thanks for spending time with me.
Jared: You're welcome.

Author Spotlight - Character Interview with Christina & Shaw from "Evacuation"

Hey Readers! Today we've got a real treat for you. I was able to sit down with Christina and Shaw from The Future Savior Series. They've allowed me to ask them a few questions. I hope you enjoy!
***Spoilers!***
If you haven't read Future Savior Book 1: Conception or Book 2: Resurrection, be warned, there are spoilers afoot!
Good morning, Christina, Shaw. I’m so glad you two could be here with us today! Would you like to introduce yourselves to the readers?

Christina: I'm Christina Vaughn, originally from Pittsburgh until Charis, the prophet, somehow transported me to Meric. Apparently Meric needs me to save them from the evil tyrant Leticia. She has the ability to control people's thoughts. I've discovered that I can move things with my mind and I have visions of the past, present, and future. Leticia also has a very powerful son, Rayliex. Basically, I'm just trying not to get myself killed!
Shaw: Hello. I am Christina's Watcher. It's my job to keep her safe. I also have shape shifting abilities.
How are things between the two of you since I last heard from you in Jenn’s accounts of your adventure in Future Savior Book 2: Resurrection?
Christina: Actually, not very good at all. I just left Shaw at the altar because I found out he killed my father. The love of my life killed my father. How would you feel?
Shaw: I just hope Christina can somehow forgive me. I'm the reason she had to grow up away from Meric and never knew her father.

If you could describe yourselves in 4 words or less, what would they be?
Christina: Ugh! I hate this question! Okay… let me think… sarcastic, brave, kindhearted and adventurous.
Shaw: I would have to say: honorable, dutiful, strong, devoted.
Christina, what do you miss the most about home?
Christina: Indoor plumbing, hands down! Meric would be way better if I could take a hot shower!
Shaw, were you ever homesick for Meric during the time you were keeping watch over Christina?
Shaw: Although I grew up in Meric and it is my home, I never really belonged. I had to live with the Elves since I was a small boy. I was the only human with the Elves and, yes, they were very accepting of me, but I was still an outcast. I did miss King Davis and Queen Lorna, but Davis was dead by my hand… honestly, I think I liked being away so I didn't have to deal with killing my friend and king.
Christina, what is your fondest memory of Shaw? And Shaw, what is your fondest memory of Christina?
Christina: Fondest memory? Well, I will never forget the first time I set eyes on Shaw. He had just transformed right before my very eyes into the most handsome man I had ever seen! It was amazing!
Shaw: The first time Christina and I kissed. It was right after she came back from the dead. It seemed like I had waited a hundred years to kiss her. I'll wait a hundred more if that's what it takes for her to forgive me.
So it seems like Shaw and Christina have some issues to work out… I can give you a hint that things will come to a head in Future Savior Book 3: Evacuation. Pick up your copy at the following locations:

Author Spotlight - Character Interview with Dirkk from "The Emerald Dagger"

STEPH: So, Mr. Dirkk, tell us a little bit more about yourself. Where were you born and what kind of education do you have?
DIRKK: I came from my mother's womb in Castle Crag in the kingdom of Daradawn. My education? I was born the son of a Baron. My tutor taught me mathematics and how to dance. My father schooled me in sword work, hunting and how to woo the ladies. He bought me my first women when I was eleven. At twelve I became engaged to Tessa De'Amberville, the future queen of Daradawn.
STEPH: Where did you find this emerald dagger?
DIRKK: The dagger found me, or should I say Darodah, the demon that dwells in the emerald dagger, drew me to him. I had to prove myself with an offering of blood, not mine of course, but once accepted I became one with the dagger.
STEPH: Who's your best friend in Daradawn?
DIRKK: Friends, surly you jest. I have no need of friends. I have those who do my bidding. Once upon a time when I was young and stupid I had friends, Tessa and Peter, but they turned against me, now they are enemies and must die.
STEPH: What's your spell-casting room like? Messy or Neat?
DIRKK: You make me laugh. I don't cast spells. I am a blood mage. I summon. I conjure. I do not cast spells like an herb witch.

STEPH: Is it true you're secretly attracted to the High Mage's wife, Regan?
DIRKK: You insult me. I have killed for less. Regan desires me. She has the power of the blue flame. I will take her, use her, when I am finished she will die…but attracted to, I think not.
STEPH: What evil plan do you have find for the fairies? I won't tell. Promise.
DIRKK: Of course you will not tell, not if you wish to continue breathing. The fairies are flesh for my forming. They will become only a small part of my legions.
STEPH: Have you ever traveled? Left Daradawn and come back?
DIRKK: The bastard mage has closed all of the rifts, but one, and that he has made poison to me, but with the emerald dagger and Regan's power, all will change.
STEPH: Any parting words for us curious minds?
DIRKK: Remember my words to you and remember my face. For soon I will be ripping the fabric between our worlds apart. When I come calling, remind me of our time together, and perhaps I will make your death less slow and less painful.

Author Spotlight - Character Interview with Princess Caroline of Carpathia
Anna Hathaway inspiration for "Caroline"

GAEL: Hi, I'm Gael, the owner of "MUSEum" the bar where all muses hang out from the Desert Breeze Anthology, "Be Mused." The bar is a place to come and unwind and take a break. On occasion I get a celebrity in. How can I resist an interview?
With us today is Princess Caroline Moldoneavu from "Twilight Over Moldavia." It's great to have you here today, Your Highness. Tell us, how did you meet Prince Stefan?
CAROLINE: We met in the woods outside of Dragon's Keep, my ancestral home. I shot the prince with an arrow.
GAEL: Oh, you cupid! Or should I say Aphrodite?
CAROLINE: Aphrodite, I'm not. I'm much more skilled with a bow and arrow. It was an accident – how embarrassing! My father would be so disappointed. Thankfully, Stefan wasn't hurt.
GAEL: That's good he wasn't. How did he react to being shot with an arrow?
CAROLINE: He just stared at me. I'd never had a man look at me like he did. Then I noticed he had a flesh wound so I wrapped my scarf around his leg to stop the bleeding.
GAEL: Oh, I'm sure he appreciated the gesture.
CAROLINE: I did get a small smile out of him. I'd never touched a man before, but when I placed my hand on his thigh, I grew warm all over. I knew right then and there he was special.
GAEL: Did he know who you were when you shot him?
CAROLINE: No! Our parents had just formally arranged our marriage and I was too embarrassed to admit I was the Crown Princess of Carpathia and his betrothed so I lied and told him my name was Aurora. And it is – just my middle name.
GAEL: That's not very noble.
CAROLINE: He lied, too. He told me his name was Sebastian. I thought I'd never see him again. When he left, he took my scarf I'd wrapped around his leg. It was a family heirloom my mother knitted for me. She was disappointed that I'd lost it.
GAEL: When did you see Stefan next?
CAROLINE: I was waiting in the great hall with my family to be introduced to the Sigmaringens from Moldavia and meet my betrothed. Sebastian walked in wearing the uniform of Moldavian's Crown Prince. I almost fainted.
GAEL: I'm sure he was surprised as well.
CAROLINE: Both of us were stunned. My mother had to nudge me to curtsey with one of her scowls.
GAEL: I'm sure your mother was polite. She's a queen, after all.
CAROLINE: My mother is always disappointed with me and if it isn't one thing, it's another. Thankfully, Stefan saved the moment by producing my scarf, she thought I'd lost.
GAEL: I heard the prince was a real gentleman. How did the rest of your night go?
CAROLINE: Not like I expected, I assure you. If you don’t mind, I'm late meeting my grandmother. She's giving me a lesson in witchcraft.
GAEL: You're a witch, too?
CAROLINE: It's a long story.
GAEL: Congratulations on your engagement.
CAROLINE: Thank you. (dashes off)
GAEL: Sounds like their romance is off to an interesting start. I just might have to have the prince over to MUSEum some time soon. –wink--
BLURB: Would you marry a man cursed to become a werewolf?
4 Stars, Vijaya Schartz, author
In this novel full of danger and intrigue, sexy scenes, and unspeakable secrets, the werewolves are the villains, and oh how dangerous they are, and unwashed, and uncivilized. The kind of villains you love to hate.
5 Stars, Mona Risk, Author "No More Lies"
Burkhart's writing style grabs the reader from the first page. She keeps you breathless with her suspense as she transports you to exotic areas you will enjoy discovering.
Barbara Hodges, Author, "The Blue Flame"
Twilight Over Moldavia whisked me into a part of the world I knew nothing about, and gave me a wonderful love story filled with suspense too. What more could a reader desire? I will be reading the first book in this series and will be looking for the third, I can’t hardly wait.

Author Spotlight - Character Interview with Grayson Kentfield from Victorian Scoundrel

GAEL: I'm Gael from MUSEum here today with Grayson Kentfield, Earl Swinton from Victorian Scoundrel. Tell us how you met Alice Windsor.
GRAYSON: Oh, she was a sight! She wore a pastel dress down to her knees, short sleeves, and v-neck that revealed her cleavage! She was a vision – even with that odd little coin necklace and her glasses. She marched right up to Buckingham Palace looking like the most unusual waif I've ever seen and actually expected to get in.
GAEL: What about Alice appeals to you?
GRAYSON: She's quite clever, yet quirky. She cares. She's curious. And she has a secret that I'm determined to discover.
GAEL: Do you have an exhibit in the Crystal Palace?
GRAYSON: No, I have no talent for making things, but I'm very passionate about cleaning up London. There's simply too much soot in the air.
GAEL: What are you doing about the soot?
GRAYSON: I support the Prime Minister, Sir John Russell. We're pushing a bill through Parliament to pay for the discovery of alternate fuel.
GAEL: Doesn't your fellow MP, Ridgecroft, believe in alternative fuel, too?

GRAYSON: Curious sort he is. He walks around in leather wearing goggles and is determined to transmogrify coal into black oil. Sir John and I don't know what to make of him.
GAEL: What do you think of Alice's cousin, Edmund.
GRAYSON: He's a descent sort, but he's as odd as Alice. Prince Albert's rather fond of him and I know the Prince is a good judge of character.
GAEL: What have you learned about Alice that surprises you?
GRAYSON: She drinks coffee.
GAEL: Any last words of wisdom?
GRAYSON: I love the adventure that Alice takes me on.

Gael: Hi all, I'm Gael, the owner of MUSEum, a bar where many a muse come to relax. I'm here today with Princess Theresa Sigmaringen from "The Wolf's Torment." Welcome, Theresa. Would you like a drink?
Theresa: Thank you for having me, Gael. It's nice to step out for the day. Do you have any tea? I find that wine or tuica upset my stomach.
Gael: Tuica?
Theresa: Romanian plum brandy.
Gael. Ah, well, I'm sorry to hear it.
Theresa: I'm expecting, you see.
Gael: Congratulations! But weren't recently married?
Theresa: Um, yes.
Gael: You naughty girl, you!
Theresa: An engaged couple in my religion is allowed all the rights of a married couple and Mihai and I…well, we enjoyed a night.
Gael: What religion are you?
Theresa: Romanian Orthodox. I converted so I could marry Mihai.
Gael: Mihai must be something special if you were willing to convert.
Theresa: He is. He's very kind and sweet, but he works long hours.
Gael: Is he good looking?
Theresa. Lord, yes. I only have eyes for him. What really makes him special though is that he's a witch.
Gael: A witch? Really? He told you that?

Theresa: Yes, he did. There's an energy about him that makes my body come alive. He's so passionate about the things he believes in.
Gael: Was converting to Orthodoxy a big change for you?
Theresa: No. I was raised Protestant, but I find the Orthodox faith very spiritual. There's a lot of symbolism involved.
Gael: So what's an Orthodox wedding like?
Theresa: It's very involved. Once the bride enters the church, she meets her bridegroom in the vestibule. The priest blesses the rings and the best man exchanges them rings between the couple. Then we enter the church. We're given a candle by the Priest representing the light of Christ and we have to hold it throughout the mass. After the mass, we crown each other and walked around the altar 3 times. Then the priest pronounces us husband and wife.
Orthodox Wedding Crowns

Gael: Gosh, I would have fainted!
Theresa: I almost fainted when Mihai kissed me.
Gael: Where did you go on your honeymoon?
Theresa: To Varna, in Bulgaria. It's a spa town. I enjoyed it very much.
Gael: Sounds like fun. I enjoy a nice, relaxing spa day myself. How do you keep busy when Mihai is working on the railroad project?
Theresa: Aside from painting, I like to visit the children at the orphanage. I've given it my patronage so the children there have it a little easier. It's so rewarding to visit them. They're so giving and honest. It's refreshing to me to spend time with them.
Gael: Does it bother you that your husband is a witch?
Theresa: Not in the least. It's a part of him. I accept him for what he is, but I frustrated at times. He's very busy with the railroad project. I must have more patience.
Gael: It sounds like you're very patient to me.
Theresa; Well, thank you.
Gael: Thanks for visiting today.
Theresa: You're welcome. If you're ever in Romania, try the tuica.
Gael: I will.
BLURB: Mihai Sigmaringen has a secret – he's a witch. Will love give him the courage to save his family from a destructive werewolf?

Spotlight on: Borealis II Anthology - Character Interviews

5 QUESTIONS FOR KAL RAINES, "BLUE LIES"
#1 - What's it like running a space station like the Borealis?
The first several months I was here, I didn’t sleep more than three hours at a stretch. As soon as I’d try to drift off, I’d be called about some riot, break in, con artist or smugglers working their trade. Either that or some fool overdosed on Uudon. I’ve got just enough of a bad attitude about this whole situation that I don’t much care what people think so I don’t cut them any slack. Iron fist is what keeping control is all about. Until some damn Rebel gets it in his head to try and shoot us up.
#2 - Do you have any friends besides Max on the station?
Until Summer and her brother came along, I pretty much limited my social time to the occasional drink in the bars. Places like Korn are too loud for talking, but I find the cacophony oddly relaxing and mind clearing. Sure, I have a few I drifted to more than others, but I don’t play favorites. These days Summer keeps me too busy for hanging out.
#3 - What's your favorite bar on the station. *wink
Ah, ah, ah. No favorites I’ll admit to in public. Can’t afford it. But if I drop by one or two more often than others, well, I can justify it by saying that’s where the biggest troublemakers hangout.
#4 - What level on the station do you live in?
One down from the station arboretum. Yeah, it’s high and mighty, but I didn’t design the station to place the Commander’s quarters so far above the masses. I’m sort of stuck there because it has nearly all the same gadgetry as the Command Center in my den. The previous station commander also had it decorated in a way no one else wanted to live there. Thankfully Summer has fixed that problem, but I did convince her to save out one or two of the most, um, interesting items. The previous commander’s taste wasn’t all in his, er, mouth.
#5 - Do you have a favorite flower?
Funny you should ask that. Have you ever studied the delicate beauty of a simple bluebell? I’m told the sight of a bluebell wood in spring is a sight to behold. Someone has recently told me my eyes are the same color of blue. Anyhow, in the next couple of years there should be quite the display of them popping up around the station. Rumor has it the Bluebell Bunny, kind of like Earth’s legendary Johnny Appleseed, has been hopping around.
*******
5 QUESTIONS FOR PERSPHONE TALON, "SHADOWS AND LIGHT"
#1 - What is your favorite sandwich? What do you drink with it? Do you serve it in your bar?
I'm a meat eater because of the unique makeup of my body's chemistry and metalabolism. I need a lots of iron and zinc, so I like sandwiches with a lot of meat. My bartender, Viv, makes a killer sandwich with roast beef and argula on rye. It's available at the bar.
#2 - Tell us something about your home planet, Pith. What's the main attraction, what is it best know for?
Pith falls in the life zone of the star, Xeres. There's another planet just outside the life zone, Pylon, that could probably support life. Pith is unusual because the planet is on a tilt, much like the Sol system's Uranus. The provence where I come from, Hadon, is near the north pole, but the pole is on the same "line" as Earth's equator. Because of this tilt, the magnet properties are off the chart in Hadon. People from Hadon have developed telekinesis to keep the harmful rays away from our bodies.
The capital is Ares. There's a major space port there. The planet was rich in heavy metals and gemstones, but the TPP has it's tendrils into the mining processes.

#3 - What do you love most about Elijah or what does he do that drives crazy?
Elijah isn't intimdated by my telekensis or my limited telepathy. Most men are. He accepts me for what I am and that's what I love about him. That and his lips. He has the most kissable lips!
#4 - What was your favorite toy as a child?
A metallic sensor ball. It's the size of a baseball. I honed my telekinsis playing with it.
#5 - What were you doing five minutes ago?
Eating breakfast with Elijah!

5 QUESTIONS FOR KHAI ZAFARA (PI BARRINGTON)
#1 - What do you think of the Borealis?
I grew up there thinking it was the end all and be all of fulfillment in life. I loved and respected my father who devoted his life to his military career in the TPP and I just assumed I would follow his footsteps and I did but not for those reasons. When he was murdered joining the TPP became less of a career and more of an obsession – actually completely an obsession – to exact revenge upon those who killed him. I had little time to indulge in activities outside my TPP duties, I didn't shop the bazaars for anything other than necessities, didn't visit the bars. And I'd only been to the upper luxury levels when duty called for it. As I said, the TPP was my life.
#2 - Did you think Teyrnan was just going to be another prisoner transport?
That's an understatement! I should have known he'd be a major problem from the second I removed him from his cell! He was trying stupid tricks to make things difficult for me rather than trying to get away which was more disconcerting than if he'd actually tried to escape! The worst part though, was that he was laughing at me, just mocking me and that infuriated me, causing me to make idiotic mistakes I normally wouldn't have made. He shook me up just by being physically close to me when other prisoners were barely human in my mind.
#3 - How did you feel once you learned the TPP descripted you?
Utterly shocked and betrayed. Consciously I couldn't believe they would do that to their own, but I think deep down I knew the TPP was capable of anything and just refused to acknowledge it. That was another reason Teyrnan was able to upset things, my faith in the TPP was already on shaky ground and he kept hitting on all those sensitive frail points of my belief in it.
#4 - What's in store for you now that you've left the TPP?
It's all wide open at this point. I just know that we'll be together regardless what happens. I'm also sure that I'll be running from the law so to speak, I'll be a fugitive from the TPP myself, just as is everyone in the Rebellion. I'm still a little nervous about whether the Rebellion will accept me on Teyrnan's word but I have to take it on trust at this point. Either way, I'll be happy just to be with him. I couldn't ever leave his side, ever!
#5 - What did you feel when you first kissed Teyrnan?
That kiss was magnetic and a rush of emotion at the same time. I never wanted it to stop. It made me hungry for more. It was just so…right, so meant to be and so safe. Not to mention the physical intensity. It sort of rocked my world though I wouldn't admit it at the time, lol!
5 QUESTIONS FOR THERON KESS (GAIL R. DELANY)
Inspiration for Theron Kess (Oliver Hudson)

#1 - How long have you been a mercenary?
I left Andromeda Prime when I was 14, hoping to find a way to take care of my mother and baby brother after my father left. I wasn't very good at it, until Rufus Pappa found me and pretty much saved me from starvation. For ten years, I was his apprentice while he taught me everything I needed to know about the 'ship for hire' trade. Call that mercenary if you want, but at the time I called it a living. I've been on my own for about ten years now, but I attribute everything I know to Ruff in one way or another.
#2 - Why did you accept the job to get Princess Sarina off Borealis?
I went to King Saron, pledging my oath that I would bring Sarina home to him. What else could I do? The Laroux family took Elijah and my mother in, made them family, and took care of my brother after Mama died. I owe them so much more than I could ever repay. Bringing Sarina home safe was just a down payment.
#3 - How did Sarina break through your defenses?
Honesty with oneself and honesty with The Greater Power is one of the tenants of my 'current' occupation. Sarina didn't have to break through. She was already there. The first time I saw Sarina, she was in the palace kitchen, talking with my mother and helping my brother make hosta seed sweet biscuits. Eli was covered in flour and she patted it out of his hair, laughing and smiling with them both. I didn't even know she was 'Princess Sarina', I thought she was another girl who helped in the kitchen. But, I remember she was beautiful. It wasn't until years later, when I saw her stand with King Saron at my mother's funeral, that I knew who she was. If anything, I cared for her all the more.
I wanted to believe that, after so many years of living only for myself, she would have no affect on me. It didn't take long at all for me to know that was just a lie I told myself. We both had changed, but her soul was still that young princess baking sweet biscuits with my mother and brother.
#4 - Are you guys planning on children?
* chuckles * I am quite sure that answer varies slightly between us. There is nothing I would cherish more than to have a child -- or children -- with Sarina. And while I know she wants children as well, she is a soldier. The two halves of her soul are often in conflict. Perhaps when the TPP has been beaten back in this quadrant, we can talk about it more.
#5 - How has life changed since you became a Shepherd?
It is much more peaceful. One might not believe that, considering the fact that Sarina and I live in a Rebellion war camp that could be attacked at any time. We are equipped to move at a moment's notice, and while I no longer carry a weapon, Veruca is never far away. But, when you consider the fact that I spent 10 sol years running from 'somewhere', running to 'somewhere', and dodging pulse blasts, waking up each morning with my wife beside me is the greatest peace I could ever know.
5 QUESTIONS FOR: THE PROFESSOR (J. Morgan)
Inspiration for The Professor (Kate Beckinsale)

1 - How did the Professor come to settle on The Borealis?
Blind luck to tell you the truth. My former base had been compromised in an attack and I was forced to move. All things considered, I been stationed at locations a whole lot worse, but not by much.
#2 - What's the worst part of the Borealis?
Take your pick, but if I had to say one thing it would be the total lack of decent vintage Old Earth vids. I've been jonzing to watching a classic from the master of romantic teen comedies, John Hughes. So, if anyone can bootleg me a copy of Sixteen Candles, I've got a mountain of creds to slap in your account.
#3 - What's the thing you like the most about Kate?
His honorable nature and the view from behind.
#4 - Are you looking forward to life after the Borealis?
It sure ain't meeting my future in-laws. They sound like total sticks in the muds, but for the chance to spend the rest of my life with Kate, I guess I can put up with them. Besides, it might be fun to see how the other half lives and make them squirm every time they see me walk into the room. Okay, that's what I'm looking forward to the most.
#5 - What's your favorite indulgence?
Kate's view from behind.

Paranormal Week - Character Questions

CHARACTER INTERVIEWS
5 QUESTIONS FOR BALMUNG, FROM TAMI DEE'S "BEYOND A VIKING HORIZON."
QUESTION #1 - Why does farming appeal to you more than aviking?
BALMUNG: I feel a connection with the earth. The roots of my crops symbolize my own roots ~ home, family and security. I am compelled to nourish and protect life, not take it, unless of course, I have no choice. I will do anything to protect those who belong to me, and I have.
QUESTION #2 - What went through your mind when you realized you traveled to 1930's Denmark?
BALMUNG: My first thought was to acknowledge the irony of the situation. I had all but mocked Time, insisting to my family that if I should find love, I would do so from my land on my terms.
Ha! Time has a quirky since of humor, for in truth, I never left my land, yet I had certainly left my Time. When I first set eyes on Iris and her four children, I knew that I had truly come home. All that had been missing from my life, from my land, had been Iris, and thanks to Time, I now had the love I had secretly longed for times four.
QUESTION #3 - What was the first thing you thought of when you saw Iris?
BALMUNG: That she was exquisite. Her skin was the color of a starless night, a tantalizing contrast to my Noetic paleness. Her eyes held intelligence, kindness, and, in time, trust, which humbled me greatly.
QUESTION #4 - Do you like time traveling?
BALMUNG: That is a difficult question to answer. As I have mentioned, Time took matters into its own hands by shifting me from my land in 908 to, well, my land in 1930. I am happy for my unexpected journey, because I gained a wife and four children. Yet Time saw fit to bring myself and my new family back to my world, and now that I have the love of my life here with me, I have no desire to travel through Time again.
QUESTION #5 - What's your favorite musical instrument?
BALMUNG: I have no musical ability what-so-ever, but I do love to hear Iris as she sings our children to sleep each night. Her sweet voice is the most beautiful instrument I can think of.
5 QUESTIONS FOR MADISON LEE, FROM J. MORGAN'S WERE LOVE BLOOMS:

QUESTION #1 - Where are you and Nicholi planning on getting married?
MADISON: A Baptist church, if I have my way. Mated Smated. I am a Southern Deb, and Southern Deb's do not get hitched in the woods. That smacks of shacking up and I won't have it.
QUESTION #2 - Have you met any other wolves?
MADISON: Just my half brother Jonas, and apparently my dad who can keep a secret like nobody's business. I'm sure I'll have to meet Nicholi's side of the family sooner or later, but I'm putting that off until I see the size of my diamond.
QUESTION #3 - Have you ever seen a vampire?
MADISON: Vamp-what?! I'm just coming to grips with the werewolf stuff. I prefer my vampires safely tucked away in a nice Anne Rice book or on True Blood. That Eric is smoking hawt with a capital AWT!
QUESTION #4 - What's your favorite dish to cook?
MADISON: I don't cook. If Nicholi expects me to, he better have 911 on speed dial.
QUESTION #5 - Did you ever get a new Mustang?
MADISON: Please don't be crass. Ms. Stang isn't even interred yet. The service will be this Sunday. Mark Martin will be officiating.
5 QUESTIONS FOR KATHERINE DUMA FROM STEPHANIE BURKHART'S THE HUNGARIAN

QUESTION #1: When did you know Matthias was the one?
KATHERINE: Sigh… that magic moment? It was when we took a walk in my sister's garden during my birthday. I loved how his unusual eyes sparkled in the moonlight. Matthias was so attentive and he listened to what I had to say. And our dance! When we danced, my heart just soared and I just knew.
QUESTION #2: Did the thought of being an instant Mom scare you?
KATHERINE: No, not at all. Emily is such a sweet girl. She just wants to be loved and I know, from losing my own mother at a young age, that a mother's love means everything. I can give Emily something I never had and she'll thrive because of it.
QUESTION #3: Marrying Matthias means moving away from everything you knew and those you loved. Was that frightening to you?
KATHERINE: I was a little apprehensive, but not as I much as I thought I would be. I grew up reading books with adventure and excitement and finally I got a chance to experience my own adventure. Matthias, Janos, Lazlo, and Resa are all very kind. I do miss Liz, Ed, Paul, and my Uncle, but I would do it all over again.
QUESTION #4: What do you love most about Hungary?
KATHERINE: The beauty of the land. Budapest is a thriving city like London and the architecture is breathtaking. I love driving over the Széchenyi Bridge, walking along Fisherman's Bastian and taking boat rides on the Danube. The sky feels so close to the Earth, I could almost reach out and touch the clouds.
QUESTION #5: Lastly, I know Matthias howls at the moon, but have you ever though about doing a little howling yourself?
KATHERINE: I'm a little nervous about it. Someone has to stay human during the full moon for the kids. Maybe when I'm 35 I'll think about it.
READER FEEDBACK: Fess up – who would you like to be for Halloween: Balmung, the time traveling Viking, Madison Lee the werewolf who lives in Louisiana or Katherine Duma who lives in Hungary and is married to a werewolf?
JMO, Tami, and I hope you've enjoyed paranormal week and hope you enjoy the rest of your October. Are we out of Oreos again? (Steph & Tami suspiciously glare at JMO…)

Character Interview - Katherine Archibald The Hungarian) talks to Madison Lee (Were Love Blooms)
Justine Cotsonas, inspiration for "Katherine Archibald."

Madison Lee (J Morgan in character) from "Were Love Blooms" visits the blog today to dish the fur with Katherine Archibald (Stephanie Burkhart in character) and talks about life, love, and doggie biscuits.
****
My name is Madison Lee and welcome to the Desert Breeze Blog.
To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure why I'm here but Stephanie Burkhart accosted me at the Niemen Marcus perfume counter and said I'd be perfect to host a blog about Women who love men who howl at the moon. Sounded kinda Jerry Springer to me but she offered me a Sephora gift bag if I'd do it. So here I am, as they say.
After reading Budapest Moon Book One: The Hungarian I knew only one person could fill the hot seat. So give a rousing round of applause for Katherine Archibald, a woman who went looking for a little adventure only to find herself embroiled in a romance with a man in wolf's clothing. Something I know a thing or two about. As my nana used to say, you lay down with dogs, you're bound to wake up with the mange. My nana was a little peculiar, as you probably guessed. I just hope it doesn't run in the family.
Madison: Katherine welcome to the blog. No dear, those aren't cookies. They're dog biscuits. I wasn't sure if you were bringing your better half along on not.
Katherine: Well, I kept him home. Last night was the full moon and he's "resting" before he has to transform again. We do have a dog, Joszef, so I'll take the biscuits.
Madison: Okay, but leave a few. I might get peckish. I forgot about the full moon. Anyway, let's get right to the point. Tell our audience how you met Matthias Duma. Don't leave out any of the juicies, either. It's ratings week and we need all the scandal we can get.

Katherine: Juicies? Yikes! I was in the library reading a book. No seriously, I was! And he walked in. Boy was he HOT. He was tall, muscular, thick hair, sparkling green-gold eyes. I almost melted into the seat! I thought he was undressing me with my eyes. We didn't kiss until a week later. Sigh.....
Madison: He probably was. Men are such perverts. So, he seduces you in the library. Did he make his move right away? Throw you against a stack of Barbara Courtlands and have his wicked way with you? Don't give me that look. We all know how those European men are.
Katherine: Well, he made it pretty obvious he only had eyes for me. Barbara Courtland? No, try Jane Austen. We didn't you know, ah, *blushing* make love until after we married.
Madison: I guess I'm the only one who made that mistake on my tour of Europe. When did realize that he was the ONE?
Katherine: Bless you, I was tempted, don't feel bad. At my birthday party. We walked into the gardens looking at the stars. He likes the stars, you know. He told me all about my zodiac sign. I melted. He knew all about me because he knew all about what it was like to be a Gemini. He was really into the zodiac and when I looked into his eyes, I knew right then and there that he believed in the things I did. He knew me on the inside.

Madison: Now, here's where things get sticky if you know what I mean. You're in love with the guy. There's no going back from it, and you're basically stuck. So, when did you find out his little secret and how did you react?
Katherine: Oh, yeah - I was totally in love with him. And then he tells me he's a werewolf. My mouth dropped to the FLOOR. No, make that my mouth dropped all the way to Budapest. **The** man I was in love with was a wolf! I was stunned. Shocked. Anyway, he did it when he proposed to me. Proposed to me!! "Katherine, I love you. Marry me. Oh, by the way I'm a werewolf." I told him I needed a week to think about it.
Madison: Least you got a chance to think about. I found out the hard way about Nicholi. By the way, he ran off and I got to howl at the moon for twelve months before he showed up. Back to you, sorry but that rant just won't go away. I'm sure it took longer than a week for the shock to wear off. What finally convinced you that he was worth all the flea dips and having to clean up all the wolf hair off the furniture once a month? Oh, any tips you can give in that department would be appreciated.
Katherine: Flea dip? I'll ask Resa, Matthias's witch. Well, Matthias didn't have a mother growing up. She died in childbirth. My mother died when I was five in a boating accident. I always wanted to belong to my "own" family and Matthias always wanted "his" own family since he was boy. It might be unconventional, but we both wanted a family. So what did a little fur matter in the long run?
Madison: Yeah, you can say that. You're not the one considering using duct tape for a bikini wax. Speaking of which, I'm due at Miss Mabelle's in an hour. Sorry to rush this along but before we go, is there any advice you can give to anyone out there contemplating dating a werewolf? Well, aside from the obvious answer of make sure he has all his shots.
Katherine: Make sure you have a healthy dose of courage. And don't get jealous when his witch rubs an aloe/camphor over his body to help him. It's not about her.
Madison: Sound advice for any relationship. Though the camphor thing kinda freaks me out.
I would like to thank Katherine for joining us today and urge everyone to rush out and get a copy of the The Hungarian. I won't say a pack of wolves will show up at your door if you don't, but why take the chance? Katherine, any last words for all the readers out there?
Jonathon Rhys-Meyers, inspiration for "Matthias Duma"

Katherine: It was great meeting you. If you're ever in Budapest, pop on into my bookstore and say Hi. I'll probably be drinking tea with my friend, Amelia Andrassy.
Madison: So, Katherine care to join me for a day at the spa? I'm sure I can get Mabelle to fit you in. one thing though, Mabelle can get a bit nosy. Everyone can't mind their own business like me.
Katherine: Oh, I'd love to join you at the spa. My curly hair can get a bit *wild* if you know what I mean.
Madison: Tell me about it. Any hoo, while we go get beautified, feel free to check out all the dazzling places you can find out about Katherine, Matthias and the incomparable Stephanie Burkhart. Come on girlfriend. After the salon, I know this place that serves the best jell-o shots this side of the Mason-Dixon line and they'll even let you slurp them straight off the waiters.

Featured Author Interview - K Dawn Byrd in character as "Daphne Dean" from Queen of Hearts

We're here today with Daphne Dean, the main character from Queen of Hearts. It's set in the 1940's during World War II and Daphne's here to tell us a little bit more of the story.
STEPH: Welcome, Daphne :)
DAPHNE: Thank you. It's great to be here.
STEPH: Daphne, how did you get involved in spying for the OSS?
DAPHNE: My boss, Tom, asked me to join the O.S.S. It seemed exciting at the time. My grand-mother was a spy during WWI and the idea made me feel closer to her. Plus, I was afraid that my job might be at stake if I didn't.
STEPH: Is there someone who has been a big influence on your life?
DAPHNE: The person who has been the biggest influence on my life is my friend, Anya. She was my grand-mother's best friend and my nanny when I was a child. She's been with me my entire life.
STEPH: How did you get into reporting? What do you love about it?
DAPHNE: I've always had an eye for mystery. Reporting is my dream job because it allows me to be a snoop, but in a good way. I love everything about it, especially the freedom it offers. Since taking the job, I'm no longer stuck in the copy room at a desk all day.
STEPH: What are your thoughts on the War? What do you have to ration?
I'll be glad when the war is over and they boys are home safely. The war has taught us many things in America, including how to conserve. It seems like almost everything is rationed. Certain days are "meatless" in restaurants. Coffee, butter, and sugar are been rationed. I really miss buying new shoes and stockings, but will do without all these things just to have the boys home.
STEPH: Have you gone to a movie lately? Who is your favorite star? Douglas Fairbanks? Cary Grant?
DAPHNE: I don't have much time for movies because I work long hours helping out in other departments at the paper if needed. I give it my all, hoping that I'll get to keep my job when the boys come home.
STEPH: Tell me one thing about Kenneth you miss.
DAPHNE: He has the most amazing sapphire blue eyes that it's easy to get lost in. Even more than that, I miss his arms around me.
STEPH: Tell me one thing about Vito you like.
DAPHNE: There are so many things I love about Vito. He's handsome, respectful, and he's a Christian who has had to choose between his faith and his wealthy mob family. Who do you think he chose?
STEPH: Thanks for being here today, Daphne. It was fun getting to know more about you and what it was like during World War II.

An interview with Lilly & Sam, from Beyond Africia

We're here today with Lilly and 3 year old Sam from Beyond Africa . (Author Carie Lawson is in "character") Welcome Lilly and Sam.
STEPH - Lilly, where did you train to a missionary?
LILLY: At my Mom's knee. This mission is home--it's where I grew up, I say grew up, but really I lived here from the time I was two until I was eight. It's a place I felt very loved. The best memories of my childhood were right here. It's kind of funny comparing those childhood memories with the reality of today. You know everyone talks about things seeming smaller when they return to a place they remember as a child. I'm finding that things here are more worn than I remember.
STEPH - Lilly, what inspired you to become a missionary? I understand you grew up with a Aunt.
LILLY: After my parent's died, all I ever wanted was to come back here. The best way to do that was to get a nursing degree. I completed my degree about eighteen months ago and started looking for a way to get back to the mission. God worked more than one miracle to help me get back.
STEPH - Sam, what about Lilly do you like?
LILLY: Her hair is shiny like the sun. And she smiles a lot. I'm not scared anymore when she's near me.
STEPH - Lilly, how has Sam's presence in your life, changed you?
LILLY: He's given me a family again. I know what it's like to be alone and so does he. I guess that makes it very easy for us to stay together.
STEPH - Lilly, I hear there's a pilot who likes to help out, Case? What's he like?
LILLY: Hmm, well. I'm not sure that he really likes helping out. But he's been very kind when we've asked him. We might have overstepped by asking for his help this last time. It's just that there are these children here, a family looking for their mother. They got separated from her during a round of fighting not too far away. Nick, another missionary, suggested asking Case to help us look for their mother, because he's a pilot. Of course, I had to ask him because I met him first and we've become friends...kind of. He agreed to help, but wants me to go with him. It makes me a little nervous. He's so handsome and has been kind, but I don't really know that much about him. I mean, why would an American pilot chose to stay in the DRC? I don't think it's for the money. Still, if it can help those children, I'll go. It'll be fine.
STEPH: - Lilly, what do you love about the Congo ? Sam, what do you love about your home?
LILLY: I like helping people who need it. The other missionaries, Bill and Sarah, remember my parents so it's kind of like being with family.
Sam: I like Lilly and Nick. I get to sleep on a pile of blankets in Lilly's room and Nick gives me cake sometimes. He smiles a lot.
Lilly: I think Nick might be the real Santa Claus. He's great with the kids here.
STEPH: - Lilly, do you have TV? The Internet.
LILLY: Oh, no. We have one phone here. It has a cord. But I wasn't expecting things to have those things.
STEPH: - Sam, are you an Elmo fan?
SAM: Lilly, who's Elmo? Oh, no, but there's a dog that I like to play with sometimes. I think monsters are scary.
Thanks for popping in today Lilly & Sam.
*smiles*
Steph

An Interview with Geoffrey of Siva, from Knight of Glory by Nicole Zoltack

I'm here with Geoffrey of Siva today, a Knight in the Kingdom Arnhem. Geoffery is the main character in Nicole Zoltack latest release, "Knight of Glory."
STEPH: So, Geoffrey, tell us about this woman named Celestia that you've just met. What's she like? Where's she from?
GEOFFERY: *eyes turn dreamy* She's beautiful with long, wavy red hair and the most intriguing eyes. I couldn't tell at first what color they were, green or blue, they're a sparkling aquamarine, the like of which I had never seen before. And her skin! Her complexion is like a soft blush, sweet and rosey.
We shared a few dances but she never did tell me much about herself. She is staying near the market, though, and I can hardly wait to see her again!
STEPH: Tell us a little about the war that's going on between Arnhem and Specians.
GEOFFERY: Vile Speicans! How I hate them! They want nothing better than to kill us all, to run us from oiur homes, to steal our land. Not that long ago, they stole until our land and kidnapped many of our women. *mumbles some horrible curses under his breath that weren't suitable for a lady's hearing*
You see, Speica is a desert land, hardly any crops will go there. Because they cannot grow their own food, they plunder from neighboring villages. Our kingdom and theirs have fought for centuries now, idle battles, and many wars. I fear that this war will be the last one, with only one kingdom remaining to tell the tale.
For truth, I cannot recall why Arnhem and Speica started fighting in the first place, those long years ago.
STEPH: Tell us what your favorite class was as a page and why you enjoyed it so much.
GEOFFREY: I am much pleased that you asked about my favorite class and not my least favorite. *shudders at an ill memory involving a bird and its droppings*
Weaponry. Any time I held a sword, even the wooden ones from being a page, I knew I could not only defend my own honor, but those entrusted in my care. Being a knight means protecting those who cannot protect themselves. And what better way to accomplish that then by being able to defend them with sword and shield?
STEPH: Tell us a little about your home, Siva.
GEOFFREY: Siva is a small town within Arnhem. I only have precious few memories of it, having left there at the age of seven to start my training at the castle.
Siva has fertile land, perfect for farming. Many families there are farmers, a good deal of my childhood friends tilled the land instead of becoming a knight like me. If you are born into a noble family, it is expected that you would become a knight. Even those not of noble blood has a chance to become a knight, should their family be able to afford it. I am a noble and am very glad for that. I do not think that I could work with animals all day and fight the soil to get crops to grow. God's Wounds! That would have been an awful life for me. But I do know that some enjoyed it.
STEPH: Do you have any charities you give to or support?
GEOFFREY: All knights (or should I say all decent and honorable knights) give as much as they can to those in need of charity, whether it is time, coin, or someone to protect them. Right now, it is my duty to help all of Arnhem, not any particular part of it.
STEPH: How did you meet King Caelan? How long have you known him?
GEOFFREY: I've known Caelan since I first went to the palace for a ball. I was nearly five, he was four. When we both realized that we would be training for knighthood around the same time, we became fast friends. For so long, 'twas strange to think of him as the prince, but now he's king and married to Aislinn! *laughs* 'Tis funny how life works itself out sometimes. Long ago, I had fancied AIslinn for myself but that would have been a disaster. I knew those two loved each other before they did. And their love is strong and true. Nothing will make it waver. I can only hope that one day, I share that great love with a wonderful lady.
STEPH: I noticed that the queen affectionately calls you "Bard." Have you written poetry? Is there a poem you like to share with us?
GEOFFREY: *narrows his eyes* She calls me that to torment me! It started back when I fancied her. I might have mentioned something about her eyes, stole a line from one of the bards. Ever since, she calls me that. I know she means it in jest and sometimes it doesn't bother me but other times, it stings. At the time, I had truly cared for her, and she had shoved me aside. 'Friends only,' she said. But I'd wager a silver piece that she started to think about the prince a little more after that.
Knights don't have time to write poetry! Although I have heard that it does make the ladies swoon. Perhaps I could write Celestia a piece. Maybe she would enjoy my efforts, and they wouldn't be in vain as they had been with Aislinn and the others. How does one fall in love? What is love?
For all I know, my idealization of love, my longing for it, my almost desperate need for it, could be why Aislinn calls me bard. One day, if I ever do find love, I will write her a poem. Or a song. Just please, don't tell Aislinn? She'll never let me hear the end of it!
STEPH: Geoffrey, thank you for being here. Good luck on your adventure! (And thank you to Nicole for being in character!) Knight of Glory is available NOW with Desert Breeze.
